  About the Dead Sea

The Dead Sea region abounds with places of historical and archaeological interest and the surrounding mountains and valleys echo with their exciting past of the ancient prophets, imperial armies and traders traveling the silk and spice routes to the Orient.

Through the ages, the Dead Sea water was imported by Roman nobles to Italy for therapeutic purposes. Plants growing in lakeside oases produced valuable and highly sought after cosmetics, perfumes and medicinal substances. The value of this area was so recognized and of such great importance that wars were fought for its possession. Cleopatra, reputed as being the most beautiful woman in the world, had Mark Anthony conquer the area for her, and it was at her command that pharmaceutical and cosmetic factories were built.

At 405m below sea level the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and benefits from an unrivalled Climate. It benefits from year round sunshine, dry non polluted air and high oxygen pressure due to the low altitude all contributing to an unrivalled healthy environment and producing an unparalleled restful night's sleep. Also unique are the specially filtered UVA & UVB radiation that only reach the Dead Sea making it of the safest places in the world to sunbathe.

The Dead Sea, one of the most saline bodies of water in the world, is what is known as a 'terminal lake', meaning it has no way of losing water except by the process of evaporation. This results in a high concentration of salts and minerals in a composition that makes it unique and of the most nourishing areas in the world.

The Dead Sea Mud helps in clarifying, nourishing and retaining moisture, resulting in a fresher, healthier and more youthful appearance of the skin. It also helps balance the skin pH, and helps in firming and tightening the skin due to the presence of silicates. The different minerals in the Dead Sea Water help repair skin damage, enhance skin metabolism, relax the muscles and facilitate breathing.
